ALSIP RESIDENT AND NATIONAL PAGEANT QUEEN TO HOLD FIRST EVER CORONATION CEREMONY
Alsip resident Dawn M. Frison announces the first ever Coronation Ceremony and Celebration for the God’s Princess program to be held Saturday, October 11 at Lighthouse Church of All Nations, located at 4501 W. 127th Street in Alsip. The ceremony begins at 1 p.m.
"This first ever coronation ceremony is a celebration of young girls - to encourage, uplift and exhort each and every one of them to become all that the Lord has created them to be.
"There is no other ministry quite like this in the United States," Ms. Frison said.
Started in July, 2003, God’s Princess focuses on teaching and equipping young girls, ages 7-11, for entrance into adolescence. Nearly 20 girls from throughout the south and southwest suburban Chicago explored and discussed various topics during the Wednesday evening sessions, including: physical care; education/career/volunteerism; social etiquette and dress/poise/elegance.
"I want everyone to know that not every single girl in Chicago is doing drugs, drinking and engaging in inappropriate behavior," Rev. Dan Willis, founder and senior pastor of Lighthouse Church said. "This unique ministry shows these girls how to become Christian young women," he added.
Seven pageant titleholders from across the United States will attend to "crown" these girls as princesses. Those queens are: Lottie Ferguson, Ms. American Elegance 2003, Flint, Michigan; Beth Lawrence, Ms. Imperial American Elegance 2003, Paducah, Kentucky; Catherine Jackson, Ms. Illinois American Elegance 2003, Chicago Heights; Motise Jones, Miss Illinois Galaxy, Chicago; Stephanie Sylvester, Ms. Texas American Elegance Woman 2003; Shilone Cornelius, Ms. Indiana American Elegance Woman, 2003; and Le Doan, Ms. Land of Lincoln American Elegance 2003.
According to Ms. Frison, the God’s Princess ministry is a natural evolution from her pageant platform of boosting self-esteem in youth by the power of the positive spoken word. "I believe in the Biblical proverb which says ‘‘life and death is in the power of the tongue.
"There are so many negative messages transmitted through lyrics, negative speech, conscious and unconscious verbal abuse by parents, educators, and those in authority. Each spoken negative word must be counteracted by a spoken positive one. God’s Princess gives me the opportunity to speak life-giving words into these young girls," Ms. Frison said.
A national pageant titleholder, Ms. Frison is the reigning Ms. Plus American Elegance.
